Cabinet Ministers of Punjab
In the council of ministers of Punjab government, there are total 18 members which includes Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and 16 Cabinet Ministers. There are total 4 cabinet ministers from BJP and rest belong to SAD.
It is interesting to note that the current vidhan sabha has maximum percentage of women MLAs as compared to earlier vidhan sabhas but there is no women cabinet minister in the current council of ministers in Punjab. There are total 14 women MLAs out of total 117 members in the current assembly.
You will be surprised to know that 19 departments are headed by the cabinet ministers from one family. The chief minister S. Parkash Singh Badal is head of 6 departments and his son deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal has 7 departments under him. His son-in-law Adaish Partap Singh Kairon is minister of 3 departments and Bikram Singh Majithia, the borther-in-law of Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, is a cabinet minister of 3 departments.
There are total 117 members of Punjab Vidhan Sabha which are elected by the people through voting after every five years.
